Chris Cox has spent more than 25 years litigating matters in state and federal courts in California and throughout the country. He has decades of experience working with tech companies from Silicon Valley to Asia. His litigation experience involving complex technologies enables him to serve clients across a broad range of industries. Clients have recognized Chris for his leadership in mentoring and developing associates by forging teams that deliver superior results.
With an emphasis on trade secret and commercial litigation, his experience covers the full spectrum of technologies – flash memory, optoelectronics, optical discs, computer storage and processing, electronic design automation, internet communications, telecommunications hardware and software, circuit simulation, software encryption, medical devices, and other products. He also represents both domestic and international clients on a wide variety of intellectual property, employment, commercial disputes, class actions and other litigation matters. Legal 500 has recognized him for "his subject matter expertise along with an understanding of technology, litigation strategy, crisis management, forensics, success handling large, multi-jurisdictional disputes."
Chris has extensive proficiency with the intersection of trade secret and employee mobility issues, including those arising under California Business and Professions Code 16600. He regularly counsels clients on protecting confidential information and conducting internal investigations to manage and protect intellectual property.

Represents semiconductor equipment manufacturer in California court alleging trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract by former executives and companies. Defendants criminally indicted.
Represent national insurer in numerous cases involving business interruption coverage arising out of COVID-19 pandemic.
Represented beverage manufacturer in class action in Northern District of California alleging violation of California Consumer Legal Remedies Act, false advertising, and unfair business practices.
Represented candy manufacturer in class action in Northern District of California alleging violation of California Consumer Legal Remedies Act, false advertising, and unfair business practices.
Represent defendant arms manufacturer in commercial suit filed in Nevada by gun distributors alleging design and manufacturing defects and breach of contract involving the manufacture of pistols.
Represented plaintiff in California court alleging trade secret misappropriation involving pioneering flash memory technology. US$465.4m jury verdict.*
Represented plaintiff in California court alleging trade secret misappropriation and breach of fiduciary duty against phone carrier. Settled on eve of trial for US$400m.*
Represented banks in federal court against claims seeking US$429m in damages for fraud and violations of California securities laws. Forum non conveniens granted.*
