Hogan Lovells advises AXA on the acquisition of 98% of Grupo Igualatorio Cantabria

Hogan Lovells' Madrid office have advised AXA on the acquisition of 98% of Grupo Igualatorio Cantabria (GIC), the leader in health insurance in Cantabria (Spain). The agreement received the support of 302 of the 308 shareholders of GIC's parent company, Igualatorio Médico-Quirúrgico Colegial, S.A. de Seguros.

This transaction was led by Lucas Osorio and Felipe Vázquez Acedo. The full team included: Casto González-Páramo and Alfredo Gómez from Competition, Adrián Vázquez and Olga Albalá from Employment, Gonzalo F. Gállego from TMT and Jorge Peris and Claudia Sánchez from Insurance and Reinsurance.

The deal reinforces AXA Spain' s commitment to grow itshealthcare business which will become the main player in private healthcare in Cantabria.

The closing of this operation, valued at 48.3 million euros, is expected to take place in the first half of 2021.
