Hogan Lovells advises NorthC Group on the acquisition of German colocation provider IP Exchange

Press releases | 24 September 2021

Led by Frankfurt partners Alexander Stefan Rieger and Tobias Faber, international law firm Hogan Lovells advised NorthC Group, the leading Dutch regional colocation provider, on the acquisition of the German colocation provider IP Exchange GmbH (IPX).

The transaction includes two data centers in Nuremberg and Munich with 14,000 square meter, more than 7 MW of power capacity, and further expansion opportunities. IPX is a wholly-owned subsidiary of q.beyond AG and has a strong position in the Bavarian region, providing colocation services, connectivity and managed services to customers from numerous industries. Colocation refers to the service of providing data center space for third parties to operate information technology.

The acquisition enables NorthC Group to expand its activities into the German market and continue to build on its platform of regional data centers outside of the Netherlands.

"We are pleased to have successfully supported NorthC Group in entering the German market and to have been able to demonstrate the strength and experience of our data center practice," said Alexander Stefan Rieger and Tobias Faber, partners and infrastructure practice experts at Hogan Lovells in Frankfurt.

Hogan Lovells already assisted the shareholder of NorthC Group, funds managed by DWS, on previous data center transactions in order to set up NorthC Group.

For Hogan Lovells around Alexander Stefan Rieger and Tobias Faber, it was the second data center transaction within three weeks after having advised Keppel DC REIT on its successful acquisition of a data center in Eindhoven, The Netherlands (Hogan Lovells advises Keppel DC REIT on the acquisition of a data center in the Netherlands).
