Hogan Lovells appoints leading Insurance partner to Madrid office

1 June 2021 – Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that Pablo Muelas Garcia will be joining the firm as a partner in the Corporate & Finance Insurance practice, based in the Madrid office. 

Pablo is recognized as a leading practitioner in the Spanish insurance space with extensive experience in insurance regulation, distribution, outsourcing, reinsurance, lobbying, strategic analysis, compliance, M&A as well as general corporate insurance matters.

In 2016, Pablo joined law firm Gomez-Acebo & Pombo where he currently leads the Insurance Group. Prior to this, he spent four years as an Insurance Supervisor at one of the most prestigious Spanish regulatory bodies and has also held several other public sector positions within the Spanish Ministry of Economy, most notably Deputy Director of insurance and regulation, where he was in charge of the regulation of the sector, the international relations of the Supervisory Authority and the Claims Department.

Commenting on the recent appointment, Lucas Osorio managing partner of Hogan Lovells in Madrid said: "Pablo is an ambitious lawyer and will be a great addition to our Madrid team. His appointment follows the recent hire of Gonzalo Ardila and is another step in our focused efforts to enhance our Madrid insurance practice in the Spanish market, which already ranks tier one in the main directories."
