Press releases | 26 April 2022

Led by partners Nikolas Zirngibl, Xavier Doumen and William Yavinsky, international law firm Hogan Lovells has advised French industrial group Saint-Gobain and its Ceramics business unit, on the acquisition of US refractory producer Monofrax, LLC from the German private equity fund Callista.

Monofrax is located in Falconer, New York, USA, and was established in 1948. It offers fused cast refractories in various product chemistries. These materials are used for glass melting, steel reheat, electrolytic reduction of cells for smelting light metals and nuclear waste vitrification.

Founded in 1665, Saint-Gobain is one of the oldest companies in the world and with presence in 67 countries. Being a worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction, Saint-Gobain designs, manufactures and distributes materials and services for the construction and industrial markets. The acquisition will help accelerate the company's growth in the refractory industry.
