Hogan Lovells boosts Munich compliance practice with leading in-house hire

Munich, London, Washington, D.C.,  22 June 2022 – Hogan Lovells is further strengthening its market-leading compliance and investigations practice in Germany and expanding its ESG offering globally with the hire of leading in-house lawyer Philip Matthey of TRATON Group. Philip will join us as a partner in Munich by 1 October 2022.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Philip served as Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer at TRATON Group, one of the world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers. In his role, Philip was responsible for leading TRATON Group’s compliance programme and worldwide team, focusing on anti-corruption, antitrust, anti-money laundering, data protection, business and human rights, and other ESG-related topics. Prior to that, Philip also headed up the compliance team at MAN SE and was part of the Compliance team at ThyssenKrupp. He started his career at international law firms Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and Linklaters.

Philip brings more than twenty years of experience in the implementation and management of compliance programmes. He is also highly experienced with antitrust proceedings and high-profile investigations, including cartel proceedings before the EU Commission. He is also on the board of the German Compliance association and a Compliance lecturer at the Frankfurt School of Finance.
