Hogan Lovells continues strong showing in Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Awards Asia-Pacific

Speaking after the awards ceremony, APAC Regional Managing Partner Lloyd Parker said: “As the world gets ever more complicated, our firm’s emphasis on innovation and collaboration becomes increasingly more important. Clients encounter new challenges, and it takes that approach to help overcome them. It is gratifying to be recognized regularly and among such high quality peers in these awards.”

Two of the firm’s seven submissions were featured in the final report:

• In the “Business of Law” category for the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) project jointly created by APAC Regional Managing Partner Lloyd Parker, our Tokyo trademark team, Louisville-based Solution Architecture Senior Manager Bob Shaeffer, and Washington, D.C. software engineer Kathleen Moffett. The “bots” create automated process of renewing thousands of trademarks on behalf of a client, a process that can be adapted for many other clients and uses. The article is here.
• In the “Practice of Law” category for a “low bono” project led by Singapore Office Managing Partner Stephanie Keen to give a startup client focused on climate change data access to high quality legal representation. The fee structure, unusual in the APAC region, creates milestones for the client to give it time and space to grow before a more formal fee structure is put in place. The article is here.

Additionally, the firm submitted in five other categories: 

• In Individual Leadership, Owen Chan, Office Managing Partner, Hong Kong, for his role in the creation of GAIN, our global support network for our disabled people; 
• In Individual Practitioner, Jacky Scanlan-Dyas, partner, Tokyo, for her pioneering M&A practice and for her work for the Women In Law Japan organization; 
• In Practice of Law (II) for a subscription reporting service that provides practical, relevant, and valuable advice on the everyday operations of running a business in China;
• In People & Skills, a new program for training lawyers newly promoted to counsel; 
• In Social Justice, for our fight for financial justice and reform on behalf of several Yazidi women who had been victims of sexual violence while enslaved by an Australian ISIS fighter.
