Silicon Valley-based partner Steven M. Levitan has been recognized by the Daily Journal as a 2020 Top Trade Secrets Lawyer. This recognition highlights well-regarded California lawyers who focus on trade secrets law and Steve was among just 26 lawyers highlighted state-wide for this distinction in the second year this honor was bestowed.

Over his 30-year career, Steve has led numerous trade secret lawsuits for national and international clients, and he regularly counsels clients on the protection of trade secrets and confidential information. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the shift to work-from-home, Steve has advised clients on securing corporate data and increasing information security in this new remote work environment. Steve noted, “Trade secrets are a hot area of IP law right now,” with a significant uptick in lawsuits.

As the co-chair of the global trade secrets group at Hogan Lovells, Steve helps clients understand the implications of trade secrets legislation and enforcement around the globe, including the U.S. where the Defend Trade Secrets Act was passed in 2016. In addition to his trade secrets practice, Steve has a robust IP litigation practice focused on patent, trademark, and technology contract disputes.

With more than 150,000 active attorneys practicing in California, this recognition as a Top Trade Secrets Lawyer acknowledges Steve’s exceptional practice at this critical juncture when clients need it most.
