Washington, D.C., 13 December 2021 —  Global law firm Hogan Lovells was named Most Innovative Law Firm in the Business of Law at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America awards. This marks the second time in the last three years that the firm has won one of the major overall categories. The firm also was named the 7th Most Innovative Law Firm in The Practice of Law category. The awards were announced during a 9 December event in which Hogan Lovells CEO Miguel Zaldivar was a speaker.

The Business of Law category celebrates innovation that relates to law firm strategy, management, or operations, and includes new business products, digital and transformation programs, and client collaboration. Hogan Lovells was selected based on a number of submissions, including several showcasing new technology and legal approaches developed by our Advanced Client Data Solutions team.

Mollie Nichols, Head of our Advanced Client Data Solutions team, was also shortlisted in two categories – Most Innovative Change Maker and Innovation in Data Analytics. Nichols heads the firm’s product and solution development using data, Artificial Intelligence, and machine learning.

Alice Valder Curran, a partner in our Washington, D.C. office and Global Head of the firm’s Regulatory & IP practice, was also nominated in two categories, Most Innovative Legal Practitioner and Innovation in Creating New Standards. Valder Curran collaborated with fellow partner Ken Choe and four pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers to develop a pathway for value-based pricing of cell and gene therapies, which the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services adopted by regulation in December 2020, enabling Medicaid patients to have affordable access to these life changing therapies.

Additionally, New York partner Evan Koster was shortlisted in the Rescue, Restructuring, and Recovery category. Koster was nominated for his work restructuring more than US$17 billion of national debt on behalf of the Republic of Ecuador.
