Deepa has over 22 years’ experience in corporate and commercial practice and has in-depth knowledge in a number of legal areas, including mergers and acquisitions (both domestic and cross-border), capital market transactions, BEE transactions, corporate reorganisations and restructurings with a particular focus on cross-border M&A transactions into Africa.

Deepa has experience in a variety of sectors which includes mining and resources, technology, telecommunications, media and communications, FMCG, insurance, agriculture, manufacturing and private equity.

Representative experience

Advising Distell Development Trust, who held shares in Distell Group Holdings Ltd, with regards to its rights in implementation of the Distell/Heineken scheme of arrangement.

Advising Vumatel and Community Investment Ventures Holdings as lead legal adviser in respect of their acquisition of up to 49.87% % shareholding in Herotel.

Advising CSG Holdings Ltd  in relation to a general offer from ARC Fund, through UBI General Partner (Pty) Ltd, to purchase all unowned shares held in CSG and thereafter the delisting of CSG.*

Advising New GX in relation to the disposal of a portion of its shares in Dartcom SA to the Trustees, in its capacity as General Partner of the Kleoss Dartcom Investment Partnership.*

Advising Old Mutual (South Africa) Holdings (Pty) Ltd in its disposal of its shares in various Latin American Companies to Lily Bermuda Capital Ltd, to a value of approximately USD 307 500 000.00.* 

Advising MultiChoice Africa Holdings B.V. with respect to various M&A transactions and commercial arrangements in Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.*

Advising MultiChoice Africa Holdings B.V. in relation to the restructuring of operations across 42 jurisdictions in Africa. *

Advising Cell C in connection with the disposal of 193 tower assets to Atlas Tower Company Proprietary Limited.*

Advising Tshipi é Ntle on the conclusion of mining services contract (a 5 year contract for R7billion) with Moolmans South Africa, a subsidiary of Aveng Limited.*
