US/EU sanctions updates
Please join us on Wednesday, 6 November 2024, in our Frankfurt office.
We are delighted to invite you to a discussion on the latest developments in US sanctions and export controls with a focus on Russia, the impact of those measures on German businesses and financial institutions (including the impact of US extraterritorial measures on companies with no US presence), and enforcement of sanctions by US and German authorities.
We will be pleased to be joined by Aleksandar Dukic, Partner in Washington D.C., Richard Reimer, Partner Financial Services, and Lukas Ritzenhoff, Partner Investigations & Compliance, to discuss:
- The EU sanctions package expected from Brussels
- The extraterritorial effects of the US sanctions adopted against Russia and their impact on German companies, especially financial institutions and risks they face under secondary sanctions authority resulting from EO 14114 (Dec. 2023) as expanded by OFAC's interpretation from June 2024
- The impact of enhanced US export controls that apply to certain goods made in Germany if sold to Russia or Belarus, directly or indirectly
- Enforcement trends in Germany and the US including strategies for risk mitigation and efficiency gains using the latest AI solutions in internal investigations.
The discussion will be conducted in English. Hogan Lovells International LLP takes over the flat-rate taxation by § 37b EStG for the onsite participants.
We hope you can join us.
