The story of Hogan Lovells - past, present, and future - is an enduring one of boldness, a clear vision, innovation, and ambition. Every moment has set the stage for the firm we are today.
Our foundations were laid more than 100 years ago by two separate law firms – Hogan & Hartson and Lovells. Our history is made up of a series of chapters, that showcase our versatility, growth, and ambition.
In 2010, Hogan Lovells was created through the merger of Hogan & Hartson and Lovells. Described as the “transatlantic merger that set the standard for others to achieve,” (The Lawyer, 2021) we have continued to evolve and excel over the years to become the firm we are today.
That was then. This is now.
Every day, we strive to build on our legacy. We are celebrated for the extensive experience and insights we have gained from operating in some of the world's most complex legal environments and markets. Our proposition is unique – we operate at the intersection of business and government, providing practical problem solving and a 360-degree understanding of our clients’ issues. We have deep historical roots in London, Washington D.C., and Germany, our three largest regions – they generate a significant proportion of our revenue and are home to many of our lawyers. We are particularly strong in a number of key sectors, particularly in Financial Institutions, Tech & Telecoms, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Automotive, and Energy and Natural Resources. We operate at the heart of these industry sectors and never take our position for granted. No standing still – always moving forward.
We champion and prioritize our knowledge of these critical markets, and the strong relationships we have with clients who operate in them. We bring our local know-how to the global stage at every opportunity, through true collaboration across our teams and with our clients.
