As a member of the Global Regulatory Life Sciences team, Hélène Boland focuses her practice on life sciences and data protection. She advises clients on various aspects of the EU GDPR that are particularly relevant to the life sciences sector. She is a certified Data Protection Officer (DPO). As a Belgian-qualified lawyer, Hélène frequently provides advice to global companies on compliance with Belgian data protection and cybersecurity laws.
Hélène also regularly advises clients on EU and Belgian regulation of medical devices and medicinal products, as well as cosmetics, food and feed, and other consumer products. Hélène has gained a wealth of experience in relation to medical devices including the conformity assessment procedure for medical devices, and advising clients on digital health technologies. She also has experience in conducting due diligence and advising on life sciences transactions.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Hélène worked as a trainee at the Food Task Force of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition.
Representative experience
Advising a gene therapy company on setting up a GDPR-compliant framework for their upcoming clinical trials in the EU and UK and advising on related clinical activities.
Advising companies on employee data protection law related issues (including performance monitoring, e-mail and Internet use by employees).
