Tom Devine regularly advises banks and other financial institutions on disputes, investigations, and contentious regulatory matters. He has handled litigation before the English courts up to and including the Supreme Court, and advised banking clients facing concurrent regulatory investigations in the UK, the US, the EU and elsewhere.
As a solicitor advocate in Hogan Lovells' financial services litigation team in London, Tom has a broad range of experience across significant value High Court litigation, contentious regulatory investigations, and alternative dispute resolution, frequently with a cross-border dimension. Tom has also spent time on secondment in the global litigation and regulatory enforcement team at the headquarters of a leading multi-national bank.
Representative experience
Acting for a major investment bank in a significant regulatory investigation.
Advising on a large-scale remediation programme in the retail and commercial banking space.
Acting on a multi-billion dollar fraud claim, including dealing with worldwide freezing and receivership orders, and pursuing committal for contempt.
Achieving dismissal of a claim against a commercial client at a trial of preliminary issues.
