Jay strives to provide innovative and strategic client-centric solutions as a member of the Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment group, where he focuses on assisting clients navigate the complexities of technology-related litigation, including class action litigation involving issues of privacy and cybersecurity.
Jay is also a passionate advocate for human rights. Jay’s pro bono practice focuses on advocating for criminal justice equity and civil rights, including serving on a team defending Black Alabamians’ fundamental right to vote, defending tenants' rights through housing-related litigation, and challenging the use of prolonged solitary confinement in Texas prisons.
While attending law school, Jay served as a research assistant to a U.N. special rapporteur; was a Human Rights Fellow working at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights; was a Human Rights extern for a global food corporation; and worked as a legal extern for the State Department, Office of the Legal Adviser – Office of Human Rights and Refugees.
Representative experience
Represented Fortune 10 healthcare insurance company in federal civil healthcare fraud action. Obtained successful trial verdict as member of trial team, recovering full compensatory damages.
Supported a succesfull challenge to Alabama's redistricting map as violative of the Voting Rights Act before a three-judge panel and again before the Supreme Court in Allen v. Milligan.
Successfully moved to compel arbitration for a leading entertainment and multi-media conglomerate in a privacy class action.
Won a motion to dismiss in the Central District of California for a leading technology company.
Supporting a multidistrict litigation response on behalf of diagnostic company related to a vendor breach affecting more than ten million people.
Supported response to class action lawsuit against a Fortune 500 company involving compromised cryptocurrency.
