Decision Making in International Arbitration: Identifying Key Factors that Influence Arbitrators

On February 2, 2022, Hogan Lovells and ICC Russia (Russian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce - World Business Organization) are inviting your to the practicum seminar "Decision-Making by Arbitrators in International Arbitration: Process Logic and Influencing Factors".

The questions to be discussed:

  • How does the referee make a decision?
  • How to be as convincing as possible?
  • How to build - or customize? - the work of the team so that the decision is made in favor of the represented side?
  • Is a structured, competent position supported by an evidence base enough?

At the seminar, we will consider the main factors for making individual and collegial decisions:

  • A person's ability and willingness to take risks.
  • Long-term / short-term orientation when making a decision.
  • The mechanism of human perception of information.
  • Communication skills of a person and his/her ability to influence others.
