As part of our Infrastructure, Energy, Resources and Projects (IERP) team, Kristen Lau focuses on construction, energy and infrastructure. She has represented government bodies and multinational companies on projects across Asia. Her industry experience covers renewables, oil and gas, infrastructure, real estate and transportation.

Kristen has also practiced in a top tier construction disputes team in Singapore. She represented various employers and main contractors in construction disputes arising out of projects including land reclamation and construction and operation of a process plant.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Kristen had also been seconded to ExxonMobil and Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd as in-house counsel. She has worked with various business units and departments, including business development, construction and engineering, manufacturing, and support functions such as tax, treasury and audit.

Representative experience

Advised a Japanese construction company on consortium agreement for expansion of a Bangladeshi airport.
Advised a Vietnamese company on the construction of a water treatment plant and a water pumping station in Vietnam, including reviewing of the offshore supply and onshore EPC contracts.
Advised a global oil company on a project agreement for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a gasification plant for the expansion of an integrated refining and chemicals complex.
Advised an LNG terminal owner on the potential construction of new storage tank, relevant project structure to best suit the users' needs, and review of the EPC contract.
Advised a national transport company on EPC contract, concession agreement, and transport operation agreement relating to cross-border rail development.
Advised on the review and revision of tender documents for the construction of Changi Airport Terminal 5.
Advised a Dutch company on a bespoke development agreement for engineering, manufacturing, supply, and installation of river cleaning systems intended for deployment in various parts in Asia.
Advised a power company on restructuring, including carrying out due diligence on key operational contracts.
Advised property developers on various consultancy contracts and construction tender documents, including commercial negotiations on behalf of some companies.
Advised Singapore government-agency on its in-house construction contracts.
Advised healthcare and hospitality companies on their leases.
Advised Ascendas-Singbridge Group in the review and revision of its in-house template facilities management contracts.
Advised Singapore government-owned infrastructure company on delays to completion of a land reclamation project, including pre-arbitration strategy.
Advised an infrastructure MNC on delay claims under the EPC contract for a process plant in the Middle East, including the commercial strategy to claim for the loss of revenue under the O&M contract.
Advised various construction companies and property developers in claims on performance bond, delay, extension of time, liquidated damages, and non-payment.
