Emmie is a commercial litigator in the Global Products Law team, with particular focus on litigation in the ESG and BHR spheres. 

Emmie has specialist experience in cross-border complex group actions.  She has represented a global agribusiness in an English claim relating to the parent company’s liability for the acts of its subsidiary abroad, brought by a number of the subsidiaries’ employees, and she currently represents major international vehicle manufacturers in group litigation in relation to the emissions of their diesel vehicles. She also has experience in the life sciences sector, including having advised clients in relation to public inquiries and coronial inquests, and across consumer products, including regularly advising clients in relation to their  communications with national and international regulators.

Representative experience

Advising UK & African clients in relation to a group action against the English parent regarding allegations of assault, harassment and gender-based discrimination at its subsidiary abroad.

Advising a number of international car manufacturers on large scale group actions brought in respect of allegations that their diesel vehicles were fitted with impermissible “defeat devices”.

Advising OEMs on their interactions with market surveillance and type approval authorities in respect of vehicle testing and investigations following the ‘dieselgate’ emissions scandal.

Advising a global pharmaceutical company in respect of a UK independent public statutory inquiry into the circumstances in which infected blood and infected blood products were used to treat patients in the UK in particular since 1970.

Advising an international manufacturer in relation to their communications with both a government and international regulator concerning anti-illicit trade.

Advising a global sports manufacturer in relation to wide ranging queries concerning its consumer products.

Advising a Ukrainian client in relation to a complex shareholder dispute in the Commercial Court.
