Nicole is a growing force in our Asia Pacific Investigations, White Collar Crime, and Fraud team. Her experience includes representing multinational corporations from a variety of industry sectors, predominantly: technology, media and telecommunications entities and conglomerates in compliance matters across the region.

Nicole has complementary experience advising on data privacy, sanctions, and trade and export controls issues, regularly advising clients on such issues both within Southeast Asia and globally. She also has experience dealing with whistleblower complaints and the ensuing investigations and risk assessments that arise out of these internal reports. As part of developing strategy for compliance and remediation efforts for clients, she also regularly liaises with and manages local counsel on matters.

Additionally, Nicole is active in the thought leadership space, regularly putting together publications and client updates on industry and practice group developments within the region. Most recently, she has contributed to a client piece on growing cryptocurrency asset recovery trends in Asia, and provided an overview of Singapore’s anti bribery and anti corruption laws in Thomson Reuters’ Anti Corruption: Private Acquisitions and Joint Ventures (Singapore) Practice Note as well as drafting guides for businesses as they acquire entities and the corresponding risks.

Representative experience

Advising a European-headquartered hedge fund, brokerage, and asset manager in relation to its trapped share collateral in Indonesia.

Advising a U.S. software company with U.S. export control, trade compliance and customer relationships after bi-partisan export control regulation by the Trump Administration.

Conducting a global compliance and FCPA risk assessment exercise of a U.S.-listed automotive giant, starting in Southeast Asia. 

Advising a multibillion dollar private equity house on the disposition of one of their European life sciences assets by evaluating the risk profile of the sale asset, and on the potential sale risks. 

Advising a pharmaceutical company on an internal investigation and Indian regulatory and litigation issues concerning the sale of one of its assets, and whistleblower complaints against the company.

Advising an American biotechnology company on an internal investigation stemming from a whistleblower complaint concerning alleged employee misconduct and misappropriation of funds in Southeast Asia.

Counsel to a U.S.-headquartered hospitality and construction business with business interruption, employment issues, and an internal investigation in Vietnam.

Advising a global audit, tax and advisory firm with a PCAOB investigation in relation to its Singapore operations. 

Acting for a medical technology company on a FCPA anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) due diligence review of a China-based distributor. 

Assisting a Japanese trading house to conduct an in-depth anti-bribery, anti-corruption and compliance due diligence on a Cambodian group in relation to a prospective power project in Cambodia. 

Advising a Germany renewable energy company on ABC, compliance and commercial risks in relation to their acquisition of a Vietnam-based joint venture project. 

Counsel to an international construction and trade company on worldwide anti-bribery and compliance training.
