Through his years of focusing on the energy sector, Matthias Hirschmann has gained substantial knowledge of the energy industry (particularly in the oil and gas sector) and focuses on advising on specific legal challenges and issues in the energy sector. 

Matthias concentrates on all relevant aspects in the energy sector, particularly in relation to national or international M&A transactions, acquisitions, joint ventures and general energy law and regulatory advice.

He has vast experience in advising on all regulatory matters relevant to the energy sector. 

For years, Matthias has been recognised as a leading lawyer for M&A transactions, corporate law and energy sector related advice – by JUVE, Chambers, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers.

Matthias heads the German Energy and Renewable Resources practice group.

Advising Iberdrola Generacion SAU on the development of power plants in Germany.
Advising ExxonMobil on the sale of BEB Erdgas and Erdöl GmbH’s gas pipeline business (including regulatory aspects).
Advising a Swiss energy company on power plan projects in Germany.
Advising on the development of onshore and offshore wind parks.
Advising BayWa AG on the acquisition of the majority in Renerco AG.
Advising ExxonMobil on the sale of its district heating business.
Advising STAWAG Stadtwerke Aachen on the sale of a participation in a power plant.
