Michael J. Scheimer

Mike has vast experience handling government contract cybersecurity issues, including comprehensive knowledge of cloud computing, data breach reporting, information sharing programs, and government information system security accreditation processes.

Mike also helps clients on obtaining and maintaining government security clearances, and complying with industrial security requirements. Mike has helped many companies determine the appropriate corporate structure for managing classified work, and he has also advised on industrial security issues in corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Before joining Hogan Lovells, Mike got an inside look at the industry while working for a major defense contractor in a number of national security positions. As a legal analyst in the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the General Counsel, International Affairs, he supported DoD international armaments cooperation programs. As a national security policy analyst in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, he supported major defense acquisition programs including ballistic and cruise missiles, space and cyberspace systems, and missile defense. Prior to that, Mike supported Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) programs and counter-IED systems as an acquisition policy analyst in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology.

Mike was also active in law school, serving as the Symposium Editor for the American University International Law Review and as a Board Member of the National Security and Law Society.
