Hogan Lovells advises new German airline LEAV Aviation on the lease of an Airbus A320-200
London, 26 August 2022 - Global law firm Hogan Lovells has acted for Germany’s newest airline, LEAV Aviation, on the lease of an Airbus A320-200 aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital.
LEAV commenced operations in 2022 with ACMI charter operations to swiftly assist European airlines with post-pandemic resourcing shortages particularly affecting the aviation industry. The aircraft will be the second aircraft in the airline’s fleet and the aircraft (registered D-ANNE) will be joining its sibling, D-ANDI for immediate service. This second aircraft will add further capacity to assist with charters and, from 2023, LEAV will be launching scheduled services.
Johannes Klinsmann, Accountable Manager at LEAV said, “We are very grateful for the support received from the Hogan Lovells team who expertly navigated the nature of being a start-up airline that plans to build its business both in the B2B and B2C market. We are delighted that the second aircraft is delivered and can immediately go into service to help “re-LEAV(!)” some of the capacity shortages faced by the European aviation market and look forward to growing our fleet over the upcoming years."
The London-based asset finance team was led by partner Robert Fugard with support from counsel Faraz Naqvi and paralegal Manisha Vekaria.
