Press releases | 11 November 2020

Washington D.C., 11 November 2020 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce the creation of two new leadership roles within our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Americas team as part of our D&I strategy, and to support the retention and progression of our people.

Rosevelie Márquez Morales has been appointed to the role of D&I Director for the Americas. She will work closely with regional and practice-based diversity partners including Americas Professional Development & Diversity Partner Carine Stoick, Global Head of D&I Bendita Cynthia Malakia, the Americas Diversity Committee, and other internal diversity groups in the Americas and globally. Márquez Morales was most recently East Coast Diversity Director at Sidley Austin LLP where she managed all aspects of Sidley’s D&I efforts on the East Coast, and prior to that was a litigator representing pharmaceutical companies.

Denver-based real estate associate Jennifer Guzman has been appointed D&I Manager for the Americas, a role which will take effect on 1 November. In her role, she will support Márquez Morales and work with members of the team across the Americas. She has worked in the firm’s Real Estate group for three years, and is actively involved with the firm’s diversity committees and various other Colorado diverse and specialty bar associations.

Commenting on the appointments, Carine Stoick said: “We look forward to working with Rosevelie and Jennifer to deliver on our commitments to diversity and inclusion, and support the growth and development of all our people.”

Bendita Cynthia Malakia, added: “Our diversity team has become a separate global function that reports directly to our chief executive Miguel Zaldivar, an important change that reflects the business-critical function of the team and allows us to accelerate the progress made in recent years. The team will only be more effective with the addition of Rosevelie and Jennifer, both of whom have a clear record of staunch D&I advocacy which we know they will bring to our efforts as a global law firm.”

Delivering on our commitments to D&I, Citizenship, and sustainability is a strategic priority for the firm, on par with putting clients at the center of everything we do and enhancing profitability. CEO Miguel Zaldivar also appointed Susan Bright to the role of Global Managing Partner for Diversity & Inclusion and Responsible Business, which took effect on 1 July 2020.
