Hogan Lovells advises AtlasEdge on the acquisition of Datacenter One

Press releases | 10 October 2022

A pan-European Hogan Lovells team led by Frankfurt partners Alexander Stefan Rieger and Jörg Herwig has advised AtlasEdge, a leading pan-European edge data centre provider, on the acquisition of Datacenter One.

AltasEdge is a joint venture between Liberty Global, one of the world’s leading broadband and communications companies, and DigitalBridge, a leading global investment firm dedicated to digital infrastructure.

The transaction comes at a time when the first wave of edge deployments is accelerating across Europe, with growing customer demand for digital infrastructure closer to the end user driven by enterprises and larger platforms.

The acquisition will strengthen AtlasEdge’s expansion across Germany, a key strategic data centre market. Datacenter One includes four state-of-the-art data centres in Stuttgart, Dusseldorf and Leverkusen, with additional sites under construction. The company is Germany’s leading independent data centre provider, serving more than 140 customers. The footprint of Datacenter One’s purpose-built facilities complement AtlasEdge’s existing operations in Berlin and Hamburg. AtlasEdge is now able to serve its customers in five regional markets in Germany with significant “ready-to-sell” capacity.

Alexander Stefan Rieger added:

"We have rarely seen a data centre business attracting more interest in the market and we are proud to have assisted AtlasEdge in this successful transaction."

Hogan Lovells advised AtlasEdge on all legal aspects of this transaction.
