Hogan Lovells hires highly regarded Italian team – six partners to join the firm’s Rome and Milan offices

Milan, Rome, 12 February 2024 - Global law firm Hogan Lovells has announced that a group of over 30 people from Orrick including 23 Finance and M&A lawyers, trainees and staff will be joining the firm.

The team, led by partner Patrizio Messina, also includes the following five partners (one of which will join as a new partner at Hogan Lovells):

  • Annalisa Dentoni-Litta
  • Madeleine Horrocks
  • Alessandro Accrocca
  • Paola Barometro
  • Sabrina Setini

The team also includes three Counsel, and a number of Senior Associates, Associates, trainees, and Business Services team members.

The new group focuses on structured finance, debt capital markets, and M&A providing assistance in both English and Italian Law.

Patrizio Messina will be succeeding Luca Picone as Managing Partner for Italy and will be working alongside newly appointed deputy Managing Partner Vittorio Moresco. Vittorio is Head of the Employment practice in Italy at Hogan Lovells and has been with the firm since 2005. 

Luca has led the firm’s highly successful Italy practice for seven years. Luca will continue to work closely with both Patrizio and Vittorio.

Hogan Lovells also recently expanded its presence in New York and in other U.S. markets, with the addition of more than 30 partners and senior counsel from Stroock.  

After the integration of the Orrick team, Hogan Lovells Italy will have a total of over 160 lawyers, including 26 partners.  The Italy practice includes Corporate & Finance, Disputes & Arbitration, Global Regulatory, Intellectual Property, TMT, Privacy & Cybersecurity, Antitrust & Competition, Debt Capital Markets, Environmental & Public Law, Employment, Tax, and Real Estate. 

Hogan Lovells Italy is highly ranked in national and international legal directories in all the practices where it operates. The firm has been steadily growing over the years with a constant average double-digit growth in terms of revenues year on year reaching revenues for almost €50 million in 2023 (ahead of the integration of the new team).
