Hogan Lovells ranked Top 75 Social Mobility Employer for the fifth consecutive year
London, 24 November 2021 – Hogan Lovells has today been ranked as one of the Top 75 employers in the Social Mobility Employer Index 2021, for the fifth consecutive year, in recognition of the firm’s commitment to social mobility.
Launched in 2017, The Social Mobility Employer Index comprises of two elements: questions directed at employers, and an employee survey introduced in 2018. It assesses and ranks UK employers on the actions they take to ensure they are open to talent from all social backgrounds.
Susan Bright, Global Managing Partner for Diversity & Inclusion and Responsible Business at Hogan Lovells, said: “We are extremely proud of our continued ranking in the Top 75. Building on our strong focus of widening access to the legal profession, we are now turning more attention to the retention and progression of those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. We will be launching our first Levelling Up report, in partnership with The Social Mobility Pledge in early 2022, to further drive this agenda.”
Sarah Atkinson, chief executive of the Social Mobility Foundation, said: “Congratulations on making it into the list of Top 75 employers in the 2021 Social Mobility Employer Index. The Top 75 recognises the organisations that are taking the most action to ensure they are open to accessing and progressing talent from all backgrounds.”
In 2018, Hogan Lovells signed up to the Social Mobility Pledge, launched by former Education Secretary and Minister for Women & Equalities, Rt Hon Justine Greening, MP. The firm welcomed Justine in November 2020 for a discussion on social mobility in action, and on the C-19 Business Pledge, to which Hogan Lovells was a founding signatory in April 2020. Hogan Lovells and The Social Mobility Pledge are partnering on a “Levelling Up the Legal Industry” report due for publication in 2022, the first firm publication to focus exclusively on social mobility.
