Racial Injustice: Supporting the UN Special Rapporteur

London, 9 July 2020 - Hogan Lovells' pro bono practice is supporting the UN Special Rapporteur on Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance, Professor Tendayi Achiume in her efforts to examine issues around regulation of the use of force and the international accountability standards for law enforcement. The aim is to support her ground-breaking work to guide Member States on best practice and improvements in their procedures to ensure compliance with the International Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Partners Arwen Handley and Crispin Rapinet and counsel Ben Summers, along with support from Andrew Holzman and a global team of over 30 volunteers across many of Hogan Lovells' offices – including London, Dubai, Munich, Madrid, Brussels, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Luxembourg, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin and Mexico City – are working together to conduct a wide-ranging comparative law research project on police accountability and the safeguarding of human rights, covering both domestic law systems and relevant International law.
