There cannot be any justification for the killing of George Floyd
On Monday this week we shared the statement below across our firm, condemning the brutal killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers, the latest in a series of similar tragedies in the United States. As a firm we have a long track record in opposing racism and injustice in the workplace and in society at large, standing side-by-side with our African American and other colleagues of color. In response to the tragic events in Minneapolis and around the country, we are actively working to provide tangible support to those who work at our firm and in our society at large. We will be sharing our specific actions in the days and weeks to come.
This Must Not Stand
We are currently on opposite sides of the world (Miguel is currently in Hong Kong), but we are together in our appalled reactions to the brutal death of George Floyd last week at the hands of the Minneapolis police.
There cannot be any justification for the killing of Mr. Floyd and we stand together alongside and in support of our African-American colleagues, clients, and friends in condemning what occurred. There is no room for discrimination or racist behavior in any corner of our society, and our hearts are with all of those who have suffered at the hands of the very authorities who are supposed to protect and serve them. The protests we have seen over the weekend have starkly highlighted the divisions which continue to exist.
We will continue to work to ensure that our African-American colleagues are supported and can thrive. We need to use our talents, resources, and power to help create constructive solutions and actively work to ensure that racism and other forms of biased behavior are rooted out from our communities and workplaces.
