A dual-qualified US-Turkey lawyer, Alp focuses his practice on International Trade and Investment Law. He advises clients on export control, economic sanctions and EU customs matters as well as international trade and policy in the context of free trade agreements. He participates in the establishment and assessment of compliance policies of multinational companies and assists them in license applications, disclosures and investigations.
He also has substantial experience advising clients on EU trade defense procedures and investigations, assisting them in submitting or defending against complaints, as well as in proceedings before EU courts. Alp advises clients in a broad range of industries and services, including: pharmaceutical, information technologies, financial services, agriculture, chemicals, automotive, renewable energy, natural resources, and waste management.
Alp helps clients navigate the comlex landscape of emerging regulatory acts that impact trade, such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, Deforestation Regulation, Forced Labour Regulation, Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and Foreign Subsidies Regulation.
Prior to Hogan Lovells, Alp gained experience in the fields of international trade, banking & finance and capital markets in private practice in Brussels and Istanbul. He also worked as a consultant at the World Bank Legal Vice Presidency.

Acting for various oil and gas western corporations with economic sanctions matters including securing licenses authorizations from various EU Member States.
Providing one of the world’s leading diversified mining and smelting groups on-going operational legal advice on economic sanctions, including sensitive operational and financial questions.
Assisting a leading Spanish renewable corporation to navigate through the EU Russia economic sanctions including its divestment of assets in Russia.
Advising a European financial institution on EU sanctions laws adopted against Russia, in particular with obtaining a license from relevant Member State authorities for winddown activities in Russia.
Assisting a sovereign government in Asia on sustainability-related trade measures and economic security strategy of the EU
Advising an oil and gas western corporation on sustainability reporting obligations under the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
