APAC Life Sciences and Health Care Webinar Series - Spotlight on Greater China - Session 2

Webinar No. 2: China’s data protection regime and risk management for the handling of human genetic resources under relevant regulations in China.

We are delighted to invite you to the second session of our APAC life sciences and health care webinar series on Tuesday, 5 July 2022.

China has recently moved into legislative overdrive on data privacy issues in the last year, building on the 2017 Cybersecurity Law (“CSL”) with the Personal Information Protection Law (“PIPL”) and Data Security Law (“DSL”) both of which took effect in late 2021. Moreover, with the Biosecurity Law and the amended Criminal Law taking effect in the same year, China is striving to emphasize the safety of human genetic resources (“HGR”). The Human Genetic Resources Administration of China (“HGRAC”) also continues to play an active role in interpreting relevant regulations.

Multinational life sciences companies need to be cautious when managing data protection and cyber security issues, notably when dealing with HGR in clinical trials and other research programs in China.

In this session, we will discuss the latest legislative changes and highlight the key information that you need to know, including:

  • Key risks and practical pitfalls when comparing PIPL with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”)
  • CSL, DSL and Life Sciences and Health Care industry-specific requirements
  • Risk management for the handling of HGR under the HGRAC regulations

If you have any questions, please submit them in advance and our speakers will seek to address them during the webinar.

We hope you can join us.
