Adrian Emch is an antitrust and EU regulatory lawyer. Adrian has developed significant expertise in the area of the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR).
Based in Beijing, Adrian heads the Hogan Lovells antitrust/competition law practice in Asia.
Adrian has been an antitrust lawyer for over 20 years. After his first job (stagiaire) at the European Commission’s DG COMP – the European Union’s antitrust regulator – he joined private practice in Brussels for a number of years. Since 2008, Adrian has worked on Chinese antitrust matters. For example, Adrian led the team for Google to secure Chinese merger approval for its largest ever acquisition – of Motorola Mobility. He also worked for IBM to obtain Chinese merger clearance in several multi-billion USD deals, including the disposals of its x86 server business to Lenovo and its semiconductor assets to Global Foundries.
Over the past few years, Adrian has developed a track record representing Chinese and Asian companies in outbound regulatory matters. For example, with his team, Adrian filed a number of important merger notifications for Chinese corporates all around the world.
Similarly, Adrian has got involved in several of the most high-profile and intense investigations under the FSR.
Adrian also acts as the National Vice Chair of the Legal and Competition Working Group of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China.
